Day 1: Old Town orientation
Start where Rhodes starts: the medieval Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best-preserved walled cities in Europe. Walk the Street of the Knights, duck into the Palace of the Grand Master, and let yourself get gloriously lost in the cobbled lanes.
Have dinner at a mezedhopoleio in the old town. Order tzatziki, fava, grilled octopus and a carafe of local wine. You've earned it after all that walking.
Day 2: Lindos & the Acropolis
Drive 45 minutes south to Lindos, a whitewashed village stacked above a turquoise bay. Climb to the acropolis early, before the midday heat, then spend the afternoon on the beach below.
Bring water and sturdy shoes for the acropolis climb. The donkey rides up are tempting but we'd gently suggest walking.
Days 3 to 5: Beaches & boat trips
Slip into holiday mode. Tsambika is our pick for families (golden sand, shallow water, zero crowds), while Anthony Quinn Bay is the one for snorkellers.
Book a day boat to Symi, a tiny neighbouring island with a pastel harbour and the best shrimp you'll ever eat.
- Tsambika Beach: best for families
- Anthony Quinn Bay: best for snorkelling
- Symi day trip: best day out from Rhodes Town
Days 6 to 7: Slow down & head home
Reserve the last two days for nothing in particular. A long lunch in a village taverna, a final swim, a sunset at Mandraki Harbour. The best holidays end on a slow note.
Direct flights home take around four hours from Rhodes Diagoras airport.
